Comprehensive Dentistry in Little Rock – Dental Care Built to Last

Comprehensive Dentistry

Most people who come to us have more than one concern going on at the same time. Maybe there’s a tooth that’s been bothering them for a while, older dental work that no longer feels right, or they simply haven’t had consistent care in years and aren’t sure where to begin. That’s exactly what comprehensive dentistry is designed for.

When patients come in feeling overwhelmed about their teeth, the first thing we want them to know is they don't have to figure it out alone.

Instead of reacting to problems one at a time, preventive care, restorative treatment, cosmetic improvements, and long-term planning are all brought together into one coordinated approach.

Established by Dr. Gary Weisbly and Dr. Drake Hawkins, Rainwater Drake Dental (RDD) has served Little Rock for more than 30 years. Our approach focuses on comprehensive dentistry and its impact on whole-body wellness. We take the time to understand your oral health history, goals, and needs, then build a personalized plan to protect your smile for years to come.

Whether you're beginning over after a difficult experience, transitioning from a retiring provider, or looking for a dental home you can rely on long-term, you'll find it here at the corner of Sam Peck and Cantrell Road in West Little Rock. For a lot of our patients, this is the last dental practice they'll ever need.

As Dr. Rainwater often tells new patients at their first visit,

"Most people come in knowing something is off, but not knowing where to start. That is exactly what we are here for. Our job is to look at the full picture, explain what we are seeing in plain language, and build a plan that makes sense for your life. We are not trying to fix everything at once. We are trying to set you up so your teeth are in good shape for the long haul."

What Is Comprehensive Dentistry?

Comprehensive dental care is a long-term approach to oral health that combines preventive, restorative, and cosmetic care into one coordinated plan.

A complete care plan typically includes:

  • Preventive care, such as exams, cleanings, and early detection
  • Restorative treatment, such as fillings, crowns, and dental implants
  • Cosmetic improvements that are integrated into your overall health plan

We like to think of it as taking the guesswork out of your dental care. Instead of waiting for something to break, we're building a plan with you. Our goal is to protect what you have, restore what you need, and lessen the chance of future problems.

Key Benefits of a Comprehensive Dental Care Approach

Here's what patients tell us changes most once they have a real plan:

  • Avoid repeat dental work: When your care is planned as a whole, you’re less likely to fix the same issue multiple times.
  • Protect your teeth for the long term: Early detection and early care help preserve your natural teeth and lessen the need for complex treatment.
  • Feel confident in your care plan: You’ll understand what’s happening, what comes next, and why each step matters.
  • Save time and lower stress: One team manages your care, so you don’t have to coordinate with multiple providers.
  • Get results that look natural and last: When treatments are planned together, your smile stays balanced and stable over time.
  • Build a long-term relationship with your dental team: You’ll have a dental home where your history is understood and your care continues to build over time.

Why Choose Rainwater Drake Dental for Long-Term Dental Care?

Here's something we hear often: "I feel like I'm always starting over." When there's no continuity, nobody's looking at your whole picture. Our doctors bring over 65 years of combined experience and take the time to understand your history, your concerns, and what you want your teeth to look like years from now before recommending anything.

We use advanced tools such as the iTero digital scanner, Cone Beam CT imaging, and the T-Scan Novus digital bite analysis system to better understand how your teeth, bite, and jaw work together. That helps us diagnose problems more accurately, plan treatment more carefully, and create results that feel comfortable and hold up long term.

"Dr Rainwater has been our family dentist for the past 7 years. He is simply the best and truly cares for each of his patients. Always friendly and professional, I have complete confidence in him and his staff and look forward to each visit."

TJ W.

"Who actually looks forward to going to the dentist? My whole family does! I know it sounds crazy, but everyone in our household actually enjoys going to see Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Rainwater because they are so good at what they do and are surrounded by an incredibly kind staff."

Julianne S.

"This dental office is the most upbeat and happy dental office I have ever used. They do great work. The doctors and staff are supportive and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about how they run their office. I recommend them to everyone I know who is looking for a dental office."

Casey M.

When you come here, you’re not starting over every few years. You’re building a relationship with a team that plans to be here for you long-term.

What's Included in Our Comprehensive Dental Care

Comprehensive dentistry at Rainwater Drake Dental covers the full spectrum of your oral health needs, all coordinated in one place.

Preventive and General Care: Exams and cleanings, digital X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, oral cancer screenings, and gum disease treatment. These form the foundation of every long-term care plan.

Restorative Dentistry: Composite fillings, crowns, bridges, partial dentures, implant-retained dentures, root canal treatment, extractions, and bone grafting. When something needs to be repaired or replaced, we handle it with precision and long-term function in mind.

Cosmetic Dentistry: Teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, dental bonding, smile makeovers, gum contouring, and Invisalign. Cosmetic improvements are integrated into your overall care plan, so results look natural and hold up over time.

Implants and Full-Arch Rehabilitation: For patients who have lost one or more teeth or who need complete arch reconstruction, we offer dental implants and full-arch rehabilitation with advanced training from Arrowhead Dental Laboratory.

Pediatric Dentistry: We welcome children and provide age-appropriate preventive care alongside adult services. Families can coordinate visits in one place, with one trusted team that grows with your kids over time.

Sleep Apnea and Snoring: We offer oral appliance therapy for patients with sleep apnea or chronic snoring. Custom-fit devices are a comfortable, non-invasive alternative to CPAP for appropriate candidates.

TMJ Treatment: Jaw pain, clicking, headaches, and a bite that just doesn't feel right are often related to the temporomandibular joint and are more common than most people realize. We evaluate and treat TMJ disorders using conservative approaches, including custom mouthguards and bite adjustments. We also use the T-Scan Novus digital bite analysis system, which measures the force and timing of every contact point across your teeth. That level of precision helps us identify the actual source of the problem so adjustments can be made more accurately, not just based on symptoms alone.

Emergency Dentistry: When something goes wrong, same-day appointments are available. After the immediate concern is handled, we build a plan to prevent it from happening again.

Who Needs Comprehensive Dentistry?

Comprehensive care isn’t just for people with major dental problems. It’s for anyone who feels stuck in the cycle of fixing one issue, coming back months later with another, and never feeling like there’s a real long-term plan. If you want to keep your teeth for life and avoid the cycle of emergency-driven treatment, this is the approach that gets you there.

You may benefit from a comprehensive approach if you see yourself in any of the situations below.

Starting Over With a New Dentist

  • Your previous dentist has retired, and you’re looking for long-term continuity.
  • You’ve had a frustrating or inconsistent experience and want a more thoughtful approach.
  • You want a team you can trust to guide your care moving forward.
  • You’re new to the area.

Planning Ahead for Long-Term Oral Health

  • You have multiple concerns, both cosmetic and functional, and want one clear plan.
  • You’re interested in Invisalign, veneers, or whitening as part of a more extensive health strategy.
  • You’ve been told you may need implants and want everything handled in one place
  • You’re in your 30s, 40s, or 50s and want to stay ahead of future dental issues
  • You're a parent who wants dependable care for your entire family. We welcome children and offer pediatric dentistry alongside adult care, so everyone's needs are coordinated in one place with one team you trust.
  • You’re a senior who wants coordinated, long-term support from a team that knows your history.

What Comprehensive Dental Care Looks Like Over Time

Comprehensive dentistry isn’t about one procedure. It’s about how every part of your care works together over time to support your health, function, and appearance.

  • A strong preventive foundation: Routine cleanings, exams, and early detection help prevent small concerns from becoming larger problems.
  • Restorative and cosmetic care that work together: Fillings, crowns, implants, and cosmetic treatments are planned together to create results that look natural and last.
  • Personalized care at every stage: Your treatment plan is based on your needs today and adjusted as your oral health and goals evolve.
  • A dental home for long-term continuity: You’ll have one team that knows your history and can guide your care for years, not just a single visit.
  • Technology that supports full-scope care: We use Cone Beam CT imaging, iTero digital scanning, T-Scan Novus digital bite analysis, digital X-rays, and intraoral cameras to improve diagnosis, planning, and outcomes.
  • A comfortable experience, every time: We communicate clearly, offer sedation options, and work hard to make sure every visit is manageable, not stressful.
  • From emergency visits to long-term care: When something goes wrong, we get you in fast. Same-day emergency appointments are available, and after-hours support is a phone call away. After the crisis is handled, we can build a plan to keep it from happening again.

Honestly, our favorite part is watching patients come back a year later and realize how far they've come.

How Our Comprehensive Care Process Works

Step 1

Comprehensive New Patient Exam

Your first visit isn't a quick in-and-out. We block out about 90 minutes to look at the full picture, answer your questions, and make sure you leave with a clear understanding of exactly where your oral health stands. Using digital X-rays and Cone Beam CT imaging as needed, we evaluate your teeth, gums, and bite, building a complete picture of your oral health. If you've had anxiety about the dentist in the past, tell us upfront, and we'll adjust the pace and discuss sedation options if needed.

Step 2

iTero Digital Scan

We use the iTero intraoral scanner to make precise digital impressions. There are no messy molds or guesswork. This gives us an accurate baseline of your entire mouth, which we can track and reference throughout your care. It also supports more predictable restorative and cosmetic results over time.

Step 3

Individualized Treatment Plan

Based on your exam and your goals, we develop a clear, prioritized plan and explain what needs attention now versus later. Nothing gets added to your plan without a reason, and we walk you through the reasoning so you're never left guessing about what comes next or why.

Step 4

Coordinated Care Across Services

Crown now, Invisalign later, implant down the road. Whatever your plan looks like, each step is built with the next one in mind. That sequencing matters more than most patients realize. When treatments are planned together from the start, the results hold up better, and you avoid redoing work later.

Step 5

Long-Term Maintenance and Monitoring

Comprehensive care doesn't stop after treatment. We continue to monitor your oral health and adjust your care as your needs change. Your plan evolves with you, and you'll always have a team that knows your history and can keep things on track over the long term.

Frequently Asked Questions About Comprehensive Dentistry in Little Rock

What is the difference between comprehensive dentistry and regular dental care?

Comprehensive dentistry focuses on long-term planning and full-mouth health, while traditional care is much more reactive and typically doesn’t focus on the individual and their long-term goals nearly as much.

What technologies do you use?

We use a combination of tools designed to catch problems before they grow costly or complex. Cone Beam CT imaging gives us a three-dimensional view of your teeth, bone, and jaw that traditional X-rays can't provide. The iTero digital scanner creates precise impressions of your entire mouth without messy molds, giving us an accurate baseline we can track over time.

The T-Scan Novus digital bite analysis system measures the exact force and timing of every contact point across your teeth, which is especially important for restorative and TMJ cases. Digital X-rays reduce radiation exposure while delivering sharper images. Intraoral cameras let you see exactly what we see, so you're never left guessing. Together, these tools help us diagnose problems earlier, plan treatment more precisely, and monitor your oral health more effectively over time.

How do I know if I need long-term dental care planning?

Honestly, most people do. If you have more than one concern, haven't had consistent care in a while, or just want to understand where your oral health is headed, a comprehensive plan provides a roadmap rather than a series of surprises.

How much does comprehensive dental care cost?

Every plan is different, so costs vary depending on the care you receive. For example, routine exams and cleanings typically range from $100 to $200; fillings from $150 to $350 per tooth; crowns from $1,200 to $1,600; and dental implants from $3,000. Cosmetic treatments such as whitening or veneers have their own ranges and can be discussed based on your specific interests. We walk through your treatment plan in detail before anything starts, and will explain what your insurance covers, so you know exactly what to expect and can make decisions without any pressure.

Does dental insurance cover comprehensive dentistry?

Here's what we tell patients about insurance: most plans cover the foundational stuff like exams, cleanings, fillings, and some restorative treatments. We accept Delta Dental, Cigna, Blue Cross, and Aetna, and our team will walk through your benefits with you so you know exactly what's covered before anything starts.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer CareCredit to help make treatment more manageable with flexible payment options.

How long does a comprehensive treatment plan take?

Some patients complete treatment in a few visits, while others follow a phased plan over time depending on their goals and needs. We’ll walk you through the timeline at your first visit.

Can I switch to a new dentist to receive more comprehensive care?

Yes. Many patients transition when their dentist retires or when they’re seeking a more comprehensive, coordinated approach to their care. We make the process simple and help you every step of the way. If you are switching from another provider, we can help you request and transfer your dental records. Just let our team know where you received care previously, and we will handle the paperwork and coordination for you. This ensures your new dentist has a full understanding of your history, so your care continues seamlessly.

Is comprehensive dentistry only for major dental problems?

No. It’s often most effective as a preventive approach that helps you avoid larger, more complex issues in the future.
